Our life is like a contest for a prize
24 Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. 25 And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown;but we an incorruptible.
THE PRIZE
In grace I run my race,
To reach a heavenly prize;
In His love I am embraced,
As I'm brought close to Christ.
Run with me, my God, my Savior,
Ahead of me that I might follow;
In Your strength I wear the Armor,
That keeps me safe where'er we go.
Through God's grace I accept my place,
And strive to make Christ Jesus known;
In His strength and joy I give Him praise,
And preach Christ's glory not my own.
Run with me, my Redeemer, my Lord,
Close to me so I will always remember;
In Your righteousness I've won this war,
I already have the Prize I'm fighting for!

26 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: 27 but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected. 1 Cor 9:24-27 (ASV)
